FAQs

Are the pans dishwasher safe and how best should I clean my pans?

Space cookware is dishwasher safe. However, handwashing prolongs the life of your cookware. For best results, wash in warm soapy water with a soft sponge. Let your cookware cool before immersing in water. For stubborn food stains, soak the affected area in warm soapy water, then clean with a soft sponge. Avoid abrasive chemicals and/or materials when cleaning cookware (including wire wool) and avoid submerging cookware in water.

How should I cook with my pans to get the best results?

Avoid exposing the cookware to extreme temperature changes, as these can cause thermal shock, warping or discoloration. Metal utensils, knives, or sharp metal objects can cause damage to the non-stick surface. Avoid using cooking oil sprays as these can damage the non-stick surface. Instead use butter, olive oil or other neutral cooking oils.

How can I prevent overheating my non-stick pans?

Ceramic non-stick coatings prefer a low to medium heat. Avoid overheating your cookware to help preserve the non-stick surface (if gas flames are licking up the sides of the cookware, it’s definitely too hot). Make sure that there is oil, water, or food in your pan prior to heating – the non-stick coating needs fuel to function. Pans can be taken from stovetop to oven, to a heat of up to 232ºC (450ºF).

Do any of your pans come with lids?
Do you provide spare lids?

Unfortunately, we do not sell separate or spare lids at present but this is something we are looking into in the future. If you experience any issues with your lids, please get in touch with us so we can assist you.

What temperature should I use the pans at?

All our pans are oven safe up to 232ºC / 450ºF / Gas Mark 8 and the lids are oven safe up to 200ºC / 392°F / Gas Mark 6. When in contact with direct heat (i.e. on the hob / stove top), we recommend using a low-medium heat only as this allows the pan to slowly come up to temperature and then provide a consistent and even cooking experience. Using the pans on too high a heat in the oven or on the hob will result in damage to the pan and adverse affects to its performance.

What type of cookware utensils should I use with your pans?

You should only use silicone, nylon or wooden utensils with our pans to avoid damaging the non-stick coating and exterior finish. Take care not to hit or bang utensils against the sides of the pans as this can cause chipping or marking.

Shop our range of silicone utensils.

What is the coating of the pans?

The coating is a highly durable non-stick ‘Ceramic’ Sol Gel which is PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, Lead and Cadmium free.

How do I fold the SwingLock™ handle on my Joseph Joseph pan?

Our revolutionary SwingLock™ technology handles are designed to fold away neatly for easy and efficient storage. By pushing the catch on the base of the pan handle towards the end, the innovative mechanism will allow you to fold the handle away easily. To extend the handle again, simply lift it out of the pan into place, ensuring the catch is locked before use.

Why are the pans heavy?

Our pots and pans are made from heavy-gauge aluminum which makes them very durable, corrosion-resistant and great heat distributors. This gives them a premium feel and excellent versatility, despite weighing slightly more.

What does the 20-year guarantee cover on your pots & pans?

We offer a 20-year guarantee on all Space cookware, which covers manufacturing defects to the handle and cookware body when used under normal, domestic conditions and in-line with our care and use instructions.

Our space-saving handle design features patent-pending SwingLock™ Technology, which has been durability tested to withstand 20-years of use.

The following is not covered by this guarantee:

  • Wear and tear to the overall product, including all coatings.
  • Any damage or color change to the product caused by failure to comply with the care and use instructions.
  • Any damage to the product caused by over-heating, including but not limited to warping, corrosion, discoloration and change in performance of the non-stick coating.
  • Any damage to hob surfaces or ovens caused by failure to comply with the care and use instructions.
  • Consequential damage is expressly excluded from this guarantee

What types of hobs and stove-tops are Joseph Joseph pans compatible with?

Our pans are compatible with gas, electric, induction, ceramic and radiant ring hobs, making them the perfect addition to all kitchens.

Well worth the investment 💞

"I absolutely love these pans! They're robust, practical to store, have a great non-stick surface and heat conductivity. Well worth the investment :hands_heart|type_5:"

Sadly Non stick doesn't last

"I've had these pans for about a year. Never put them in the dishwasher, never used on high heat, only used for eggs or porridge three times a week on average. Started off great, but the non stick has not lasted and they are difficult to clean, you have to soak them for a good while. I started with the small one and bough two others because I liked it so much to begin with, but sad conclusion after some use they are not worth the money. Used to make an omlette this morning, heat so low it took 10-15 mins to cook the eggs, photo shows the result."

A great buy

"Really high quality cooking pan. I was a little hesitant about the possibility of the folding handle being flimsy. However it is a seriously robust handle with a subtle catch system that means there is no chance of accidental closure. The non stick coating is solid ( in other make pans this is not so). I have only recently bought so cannot comment further on durability. But I’m impressed, it’s a seriously classy piece of kit."

Ann K. (5/5)

Fantastic size, a little heavy

"Fantastic size, a little heavy but that’s expected for ceramics. It cleans very easily and the design is great for storage. Very tempted to get the entire set!"

Samantha M. (5/5)

Great product

"I love this pan! It's non-stick, so easy to use and wash. It stores easily because of the fold-in handles, and it looks good too."

Mike T. (5/5)

Poor customer service

"I purchased these pans a year ago. Despite having the blue pan liners that joesphjoeseph supplied the non stick coating chips off. I reached out to Joesphjoseph as they must be faulty but have had no acknowledgement from them. I sent 2 emails your customer service is not what I would expect from you. It’s appalling."

Deanna (1/5)

Form over function, smallest topples over if empty

"Owned this 3 saucepan set and lids for just over 12 months. Purchased directly via the brand website. So far I have only used the smallest and medium pans. Brief: I wouldn't recommend these. Long: The smallest pan I use regulary for porridge. And some times cooking lentils, or pasta. I use silicone spatulas or wooden spoons. I've only hand washed it wish the soft sponge side of scourers, the lip of the pan started losing its coating around 3 months in. But the non stick on the inside is fine, so far. The outside of the pan near the handle joint has developed white specs, aluminium oxide perhaps. The handle on the smallest is too heavy, and the balance is off. If the empty saucepan is placed on a flat surface with the handle extended, it falls over towards the handle. Two portions of raw rice is not enough to stop it toppling over. I've owned many glass lid saucepans. All with a small hole to allow some steam to escape. These dont have a hole. I didnt notice this when purchasing. When boiling or steaming food, the lid gets obscured with water droplets or steam too quickly, so you cant see inside, which defeats the point of a glass lid. Ive used the medium pan for boiling potatoes a couple of times in the period ive owned it. This being bigger doesnt topple. My only reasons for buying these was the convenience of the folding handles, and glass lid. In hindsight should have saved my money and put up with cheaper saucepans with fixed handles. And as said the glass lid clouds up. I am reluctant to use the medium and big ones, and prefer to use my ageing old generic saucepans."

Mr A. (3/5)

Disappointed

"I bought a pan last July, after 6 months the so called nonstick frying pan is rubbish. I hand clean it after use, use a sponge cloth to wipe it and have treated it like a Rolex watch. On the plus side the build is fantastic, but I expected it to last longer."

Alan M. (2/5)

Excellent pan set folds away

"Excellent pan set folds away nicely nice colour, great quality"

Steven C. (5/5)

Wish I’d brought them before now!!

"Really good quality. Not too heavy though. Love the way the handles fold in and the felt to protect the non stick. Love the lid holder as well. Thoroughly recommend"
